SPECKLEBELLY SUNFISH (Lepomis spp.)
IDENTIFICATION: Specklebelly are deep sided fish a small mouth, a black ear flap rimmed in reddish orange and bluish vertical bars.
BIOLOGY: Specklebelly are an improved proprietary hybrid sunfish that does not use green sunfish in its cross. Populations of specklebelly are approximately 95-100% male. These sunfish readily take a commercial fish food, grow to large sizes and are easy to catch. Consider increasing your sunfish diversity of Specklebelly.
